DOC Director Ron Angelone Received National Award from Association of State Correctional Administrators

RICHMOND – The Virginia Department of Corrections is proud to announce that Director Ron Angelone has received the 2000 Michael Francke Award from the Association of State Correctional Administrators (ASCA). The annual award, established in memory of Michael Francke who was Director of Corrections in Oregon when he was murdered by a former inmate in 1989, recognizes members who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, contribution, accomplishment, and service to the Association and to the field of corrections.
Angelone was selected by his peers in recognition of his many contributions to the Commonwealth of Virginia, the field of corrections, and to ASCA.

“I am certainly honored to be recognized by ASCA with this award,” said Angelone. “It’s always special to be recognized by your peers in this way, especially when the award is given in memory of one of the real leaders in the field of corrections.”

ASCA is a professional organization for administrators of state, federal and large municipal corrections systems, and has a long-standing commitment to excellence in correctional management. Through grants for research and programming innovation, ASCA provides correctional administrators with resources in agency operations and professional development, as well as a forum for sharing and partnership.
