Sex Offender Supervision

Sex offenders in Virginia are required to register with the Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minor Registry. Probation and Parole Districts maintain a listing of all sex offenders along with their photographs. Virtually all sex offenders are in the intensive level of supervision.

Nine (9) districts are conducting a pilot project to intensively supervise, treat and polygraph sexual offenders. They have developed a manual entitled " Sex Offender Supervision Containment Model", which is based on a team approach including the supervising officer, the treatment provider and the polygrapher. Currently there are 43 private vendors which contract to provide assessment, treatment or polygraph services.
