Day Reporting Programs and Drug Courts (DRC)
Program Overview
Nonresident program staffed by Probation and Parole Staff. Daily offender contact and monitoring,
including random checking on daily itineraries, job interviews, counseling attendance and community
service. Offenders are provided intensive substance abuse treatment, Aftercare/Relapse Prevention
counseling, AA/NA groups, GED/ABE and life skills classes, job referrals, and vocational services.
Other services such as parenting skills are provided based on offender needs.
The first Day Reporting Center was opened in Fairfax in 1993. Currently, there are ten (10) active Day Reporting Centers.
Drug Court
Richmond, Peninsula, Norfolk, and Roanoke are also providing interaction “drug court” services
with their respective Circuit Courts as are Charlottesville and Fredericksburg. Chesterfield County
and Portsmouth are in the planning stages for drug court programs. Community Corrections is an active
participant in the interagency Drug Court program study group (SJR 399).
