Diversion Centers

Program Overview
A 20 week residential program. Offenders reside in the facility. Program staff monitor offenders working in the community at paid jobs and perform random urinalysis testing. Programs provided are employment counseling, substance abuse education, NA/AA groups, basic education/GED preparation, parenting skills, independent living skills, transitional services, and coping with domestic violence. Court costs and restitution will be collected and community service work performed. Offenders have a mandatory one (1) year of probation supervision upon release following initial intensive supervision.

Eligibility
Nonviolent offense as defined in §19.2-316.1 Code of Virginia with no age restriction other than tried/convicted as adult.

Referral Source
Courts (sentencing and revocation of probation); up to 45 days evaluation by the Department of Corrections prior to acceptance into the program.
