Security Level 2 - Assignment Criteria:

For Initial Assignment ONLY: No Escape History within past 5 years. Single Life sentences must have reached their Parole Eligibility Date (PED). No disruptive behavior for at least past 24 months prior to consideration for a transfer to any less-secure facility.

Special Purpose Institution - It is a reception and classification facility. Its role is to intake offenders from the local jails and process them into the Department. It houses inmates classified to multiple levels of security.

Directions From Richmond:

Take U.S. Route 60 West to Sprouse's Corner. Turn right on U.S. Route 15 heading Northeast toward the town of Dillwyn. Before reaching the town, turn left (Northwest) on State Route 20, follow State Route 20 until you see a sign for "Buckingham Correctional Center." Dillwyn Correctional Center is next to Buckingham Correctional Center.
