The Communications Unit serves as the Department's primary external voice coordinating Departmental activity regarding public information, legislative and legal affairs, FOIA requests, Victim Services, and support for the Board of Corrections.(view News: Press Releases in the Resources and Links section)
Legislative Affairs
Legislative Affairs this unit provides a legislative liaison to work closely with the General Assembly and their staff members as it relates to legislation that impacts the Department of Corrections. The Virginia General Assembly convenes every January and rotates each year between 45 and 60 day sessions.Victim Services Unit
Victim Services Unit provides information and referrals to crime victims whose offender is sentenced to the Department of Corrections prison or who is parole eligible or on post release supervision by authority of the Virginia Parole Board.Additional units in Communications:
