About Office of the Inspector General

Office of the Inspector General conducts criminal and administrative investigations and inquiries, pursuit and return of escaped felons, interstate transport of inmates, background investigations and internal audits.

Management Reporting: The Inspector General has a reporting relationship to: Multiple reporting requirements are designed to ensure the highest degree of independence in determining investigative and audit subjects.

Internal Auditing

The Internal Auditing is responsible for conducting audits of Department operations to determine that:

Special Investigations Unit

The Special Investigations Unit is responsible for conducting investigations of all felony and misdemeanor violations of law committed in and against the Department of Corrections; and serious allegations of staff/employee misconduct and administrative violations. The investigations include allegations involving economic crime and drug/contraband matters.

Background Investigations Section

The Background Investigations Section is to review all employment applications and conduct background investigations. These investigations include criminal, DMV and employment reference checks.

Extradition and Absconders Section

Extradition/Absconders Unit works with State, Local and Federal Law Enforcement agencies nation wide in order to locate and apprehend Parole Violators and Escapees.

The unit is also responsible for the transportation of all Escapees, parole Violators and Inter-State Compact Inmates from out of state to in-state facilities and from in-state to out of state facilities.
